3. Cabrio Meeting in Germany, Black Forest
Our third meeting was one of the best ever! We met on June 9, 2000 at the Schlumpf museum, in Mulhouse. After our visit, we enjoyed an informal Alsatian lunch. That afternoon we paid a visit to the Eco musee, where we learned about life over the centuries in the Alsatia region. We then checked into our full-comfort hotel, near where the borders of France, Germany and Switzerland meet. After dinner we drove to Basil, for a visit to the city's historical downtown area.
Saturday a.m. we drove to Titisee Lake, along typical Black Forest roads. What a tasty German lunch we had! Immediately following lunch we treated ourselves to a boat ride on the lake - a kind of psychological preparation for our check in at the old-style hotel, which we reached driving through Triberg along the famous "street of clocks". During our gala dinner (with delights of the Black Forest served) we enjoyed a troupe of folk dancers and, what's become a Cabrio Meeting tradition, our souvenir gift ceremonies. After dinner -a torchlight procession through the woods - an excellent way to work off the abundant food and wine.
