2. Cabrio Meeting in France, Cote d'Azur
October 8, 1999. 25 crews from Belgium, France and Italy met in Gorbio, a tiny medieval city near Menton, on the Cote d'Azur. Along the Grand Corniche we drove the coast road from Menton to Nice, where we took the well known Promenade des Anglais. Upon reaching the Var valley, we took the high road for St. Paul de Vence, where we stopped for a brief visit, and Grasse, where we spent the night. Grasse is the city of perfumes, famous throughout the world!
Saturday we set out early for the Port of Frejus, passing through Gorges du Verdon, Castellane, Moustiers S.te Marie, Draguignan on the way. Upon reaching destination crews were tired, but glad to have seen such lovely places. Gala dinner, road stories, and of course: souvenir gift ceremonies. The meeting wound up at Cannes, with lunch at a restaurant with a panoramic view, which we reached via the Esterel road, known for its intensely red rock formations.
